Emerald and the Ocean Parade by Harriet Muncaster

The world of Isadora Moon is getting bigger. Emerald, the Mermaid Princess,  is set to be a favourite with young readers aged 5-8. Fans of the series will recognise Emerald from the Isadora Moon story,
Isadora Moon under the Sea, released last year and chosen by The Times as one of the best 33 children’s books of 2022.

Beautifully illustrated in two colours, this new series from the world of Isadora Moon introduces Isadora's mermaid friend, Emerald!

Emerald is learning how to be a mermaid princess, but she doesn't
feel like one at all. She's not very good at waving to crowds and royal headdresses just aren't her thing - her hair is too spiky and wild. Emerald's wriggly pet octopus, Inkibelle, doesn't much like living at the royal palace either.
The annual Ocean Parade is coming up. Will Emerald be brave enough to be a mermaid princess but do it her own, special way?

As I know from personal experience, the world of Isadora Moon is such a favourite with young readers and I am sure they are going to bve delighted with the addition of Emerald the Mermaid Princess. Living under the sea allows for some gorgeous imagery and the illustrations, this time themed with a green and black colour scheme help to bring the story alive.  Starting off a new series is always difficult but we are introduced to Emerald's situation and character, as well as family relationships and friends without us even noticing.

Written with short chapters and with illustrations which add to the story, it is easily accessible for a young reader or ideal for reading aloud. There are also lots of activities to make and do related to Emerald's world which I am sure will be popular as well as a preview of the next adventure in the series.

Cat and Mouse say: Dive in, its fun under the sea!
