Recommended for ages 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and up.

Don't miss out on the chance to bug out!

Bright and colourful, this fact book will engage the young Middle Grade reader. The text is used sparingly and well-spaced out on the page. There are also videos which can be linked to throughout to illustrate chosen points. Each page sets out to answer a posed question about bugs and leads the reader on to question a little further. There is a variety of questions posed, relating to the environment, the senses, the animal kingdom, art, space. I particularly like the resources sites which the reader is directed to at the end, concerning Insect identification sites. There is a real interactive feel about the book and it will spark an interest in most young readers who will enjoy being able to identify bugs they find in their own gardens.

Cat and Mouse say: Don't forget to search out those bugs!

Readers can vote for the most beautiful insect in the world here.

You can download educational activities to go along with the book here.

About the Authors

Two Umbrellas is an educational publishing company that fuses education and storytelling.  We offer books and activities to help parents and educators empower tomorrow’s leaders.

Our founders, Anthony Puttee and Addie Broussard, love to travel.  Anthony’s favorite trip was to Antarctica and he has included some of his personal photos in this book.  Addie has traveled solo around the world. While in Portugal, she encountered a unique insect, which inspired a children’s book called The Beedog, which was published in 2018. The idea for Do Bugs Wear Shoes came from a playful team meeting on a rooftop in Mexico.
